    Calabash

    My first calabash. Maple
  2. Child of the Corn #2

    Child of the Corn #2

Here's a side view of the turning that provides a better view of the textured surface that resembles corn. The rising brown Walnut 'husks' resemble the outer layers of a corn stalk that hasn't been picked. Height is 12 inches.
  3. Child of the Corn

    Child of the Corn

This 12-inch tall vase was turned from a block of Walnut. A 3-point multi-axis approach was used to create the twist. Texturing and coloring were added in the carved sections between the rising 'stalks'. When I finished the piece it reminded me of a stalk of corn with strands of brown husk...

    Building a bouquet

  9. Basket Illusion?

    Basket Illusion?

A sort of a basket illusion. 5 1/2" tall, 3 1/2" diameter. Cherry. Turned, burned, dyed, sanded, painted, and reactive paints. Pretty much what I was going for from the get-go.

  19. Basketweave 102

    Basketweave 102

I’ve always been a big fan of the Basketweave pattern in Segmenting; I think Tom Lohman’s Tubular pattern inspired this piece!! 21k plus pieces of Pernambuco, Bloodwood, Yellowheart, Wenge, Holly and Maple; all individually glued into a vase 18.5” tall, 14.5” at it’s widest point. This was built...
