Working on a large Cherry bowl w/ ebonized exterior. Have a few more passes on the exterior and then I’ll hollow and finish. Going with Shellac over the ebonized exterior and Danish oil on the natural interior. It’s going to hold a fruit basket for the family that’s hosting us for Christmas dinner.

I sand with 180, then do a coat of black tea to amp up the tannin, followed by a coat of iron oxide solution. Once it’s dry I sand to 320, then do another round of tea and iron oxide. When that’s dry, I sand to 400 and then hollow it out.

Finished the sugarberry twice-turned bowl. Tried and True Original finish. 9.5" x 2". CA and coffee grounds on a crack that went over the rim.

Just dry-assembled this piece for a client meeting. It’s quite sturdy, despite the spindly legs. Going to add a few more small drops suspended from the burl. Also a bit of detailing and finish work still to do.

To solve the problem of how to locate the upper and lower mortises I made a set of transfer punches.

Could you post a pic of the nozzle David? I hope to get my coring system from Oneway this week. Do you turn a tenon for every core as you go?

I use a piece of 1/8" copper tubing in a 1/8 NPT fitting which fits my air nozzle

In the middle of a run of coffee scoops. These need to have the handles glued in and then a couple coats of walnut oil. All the cups are from a piece of curly maple with assorted woods for the handles.
