Spalted Maple with Ebony Lid and Finial. Measures 3-1/2" dia. x 7-1/4" tall. No finish, just buffed. I was fortunate to have this piece selected to be in the Christian Brothers University's permanent collection. Their permanent collections are on display somewhere on the campus year round.

Probably sycamore. Warped like crazy, but I like it that way on this bowl. That thing that looks like a tenon on the bottom is actually ... a tenon, but if I remove the tenon, I will have a funnel.

This one measures 4-7/8" dia. x 6-3/4" tall. Finial is masscur ebony. No finish applied, just 3 steps of buffing. Comments always welcome.

THIS WAS A CROTCH IN A DOGWOOD AT MY FOLKS HOUSE, KATRINA KILLED IT AND ABOUT A YEAR AND A HALF LATER AS IT WAS BEING CUT DOWN I NOTICED THAT IT HAD SPALTED. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT WOOD COULD SPALT WHILE STILL STANDING. THIS PIECE WAS 7 FEET UP AND IS ABOUT 10 X 7 X 4.
