1940's wig stand
The iconic look of war-time the 1940s women's two-piece suit. It was classy and styling perfect for a walnut wig stand spindle.

I've been having some fun carving, burning, dyeing, and painting pieces lately, but sometimes it's a good idea (and fun) to go back to basics.
Finished with walnut oil and wax. 6" w x 3.25" h.
I made this piece at my two years in woodturning and finding that trying new things continues to be a pleasure. A Bradford pear was taken down in my neighborhood a couple of months ago and I was able to turn some of the branches into canvases for carving. This is my second attempt at piercing...
This small box 60mm tall 40mm in diameter was decorated on my Rose Engine lathe. The wood is unknown by me but was quite dense so it took the pattern well. The top has a white CZ inserted in the centre of the pattern. The inside of the lid is also decorated and has a blue CZ stone in the centre...
Cerejeira, Avodire, Leopardwood, Ebony, Maple with purpleheart accents on the rim. 7.5" D 4-3/8"H. 3/32" walls on the top 2/3. 5/32" near the base. Potato chip thin. The rim is a somewhat thin as well but is undercut to appear thicker.
Maple spin tops turned in one piece, hand-painted with many layers of transparent acrylic paints on top and underside. Installed a bearing ball for extra long spinning time. Flowers are “Orange Cosmos” and “Black-eyed Susan”. Size 2 1/2” X 3”. Maple burl base for storing the tops upright.
Was posting some of my early work to instagram and thought I should do the same here. This piece was titled Emerging World. 10 inches in diameter by 14 tall. Made from Cocobolo and curly maple. I did do work that was not Chaco related at one time.
One of the pieces from my intial follow along project in the Forum. Thought I would get it into my gallery! I highly recommend that members do a follow along project to help everyone understand processes! Let's do this!!
10 x 4 inches, 1st turned in September ‘21
My goal, on this piece was to keep the ash as bright as I could.
Whitened with two part wood bleach, then finished with shellac, a one pound cut of ultra blonde shellac flakes and DNA. Brushed it on and sanded back, three coats. Not sure if it should...
These 3 nested Arbutus Burl bowls are the cores from my previous post. These bowls were all green turned and wet sanded within a few days of being harvested. They are all about ¼” thick and have 3 carved feet so they will sit flat after they morph. Finished with 2 coats of tung oil. This process...
