I had turned this piece of walnut and decided it would be best as a hollow form. My initial thought/design was for it to sit flat. Looking at it I decided to add some feet as I had the wood to do that. The top at that point was just straight. With some input from some turner friends I...

First time working with Cocobolo. I was fortunate to acquire a few blocks from an estate a few months ago. This was the smallest one. It hollowed easier than I was expecting and I was able to keep the opening at 1/2”.
I had a small catalpa blank and a birdseye maple board for years. I have never done a two piece hollow form, my first attempt.
8 1/2” diameter, 3” tall
Turned from dripping wet apple, walls turned thin (1/8"). Surprisingly, it didn't check as it dried, but it warped enough to give it some character. About 5.5" tall.

Painting with a balloon and iridescent paints make for some exciting effects. It’s a unique experience as the color doesn’t show up ‘til it dries, so you get to wait for the effect to happen, different way to watch paint dry. 13”x7”.
For fly fishermen the four seasons are Rainbow trout, Brooke, Brown or Cutthroat. Turned from cherry, textured and painted with acrylic paints. One panel for each specie is carved on the four sides of the 12" tall vessel

This vessel was turned from a piece of spalted hackberry and the ring is African blackwood. It is 7 1/2” in diameter and 6 1/4” tall. The finish is a flat acrylic spray.
This walnut root from Brandon city hall was just right for a vase but that rock in the bottom hurt, then as it dried cracked top down. Had wanted to do laces for a while and finally got the chance on this one. Finish is Watco natural with acrylic paints.
I tried to make it look like a hollow for was emerging from this hunk of burl. About 9 inches high, finished with shellac sealer and lacquer sprayed from a can.
This piece was interesting to turn! Hollow goes right through it. Other than the hole in the neck left the cavity natural. Was also one of those pieces shape was determined by the character in the wood. Turning it to the shape I had originally in mind would have removed a lot of the interesting...
This is a hollow form made of maple. It is about 5 inches tall and 3 inches wide and the hole is about 1.5 inches wide. The hole was supposed to be about a 1/2 of a inch smaller but I had a bad catch while hollowing. But in all I think this is one of the nicest hollow forms I have made...
Curly Maple Hollow Form with spalting. One of my first hollow forms. About 7 inches in diameter and 3.5 inches tall. Finished with Danish Oil and Beall Buffing System.
