This is another idea I came up with using my winged vessels see page 12 of my gallery for Midas Box.
I had in mind a Cleo Pat era Egyptian style
The Snakes are made by cutting down the wing (with the Skew) and leaving a wing sitting on...
This was my first attempt at a Southwestern form. The box elder was green, and was turned wet until finished over a four day period. The size is 8" in diameter, 5.5" tall, with a wall thickness of 0.25". Finished with five coats of gloss lacquer and Beall buffed. The half log had...

Body: Cherry

Pair of lidded boxes from Walnut, Bubinga, and Curly Maple. Approximately 4 1/2" tall x 2 3/4" dia. I am a newbie turner (and photographer). Please let me know what you think.
I believe I thought too much about trying to get a nice lid fit, and shape the inside and not enough on...
I say it is big because it is much larger than most boxes I turn at 2 1/2" tall and a little over 4" in diameter from a very dry piece of walnut I have had in my shop for quite a while. I managed to turn it to a uniform 1/8" thickness except for the top and bottom which are...
Pear Box with Black Walnut Finial. 3 1/2" w. x 6" h.
My first experiment with trying a cross grain box. I can understand now, why most boxes are turned end grain. Even though this beautiful piece of wood was thoroughly dry, it still moved and warped slightly and the lid needed some...
A piece of silver maple turned into a box shape inspired by Richard Raffan's spire series and dyed. The box is 2 3/4" in diameter and 5" tall.
