Spalted maple hollow form (box?) with lid. Finished with Odie's Oil. Some repair with Starbond Black in the heaviest spalting. About 7.5 inches tall by about 8 inches wide. Constructive criticism appreciated.
A recently completed cherry box with weathered black locust pull. The pull is a root section from a tree that has probably been down for decades. 5 1/2" D x 10" - texturing with a brass wire wheel, lacquer finish.

My latest Platonic solid. An octahedron has 8 identical faces (equilateral triangles) and can be thought of as 2 pyramids joined at their base. Completely formed on the lathe. It is a box with a spherical interior

This container is made of European Walnut and has been decorated at the bottom with pryographed bamboo leaves. 8 5/8" by 4". It has been finished with oil. Comments and critique welcome. Thanks for looking.
I guess I have a real newbie question.
When turning boxes, should the lid have the spigot that fits inside the base or the base have the shoulder that fits inside the lid?
And if so Why?:confused:
