If you hit the post reply in the empty box it goes away.
It must force a save.

Yep! You got it! I can understand it hanging around for, perhaps, an hour. But any longer than two or three is kinda ridiculous. I swear it was more than 24 hours when I ran into the problem (but I s'ppose I could be wrong). Vote Yes for a cancel button.and as we already know, the "undead" deleted text is back to haunt us once again.
But would that just add a numbered post that was blank? If you hit the post reply in the empty box it goes away.

Possible solution? To delete the unwanted text as Bill described ( using CTRL-A to highlight all followed by hitting the DELETE key) and then wait until the red "Draft Saved" alert flashes on the screen. Seems like the box would then return to being blank. Ya think?🙄
Should we take bets on how many times this problem is asked about over the next two or three years? It's the kinda thing you, Al and I can just file the answer to and avoid the aggravation, bet it will drive at least a few members buggy. Quite the oversight in my book (but I still like the forum, have to remember to say that🙂)I think that perhaps Al solved the problem for us ... if I can manage to remember it. Although I tend to be slothful at times, waiting around for a "Draft Saved" after doing a DELETE is too slothful even for me. I did sloth around for several minutes until I decided that maybe the software doesn't consider an empty editor box as being a draft worthy of saving. 😀
Apologies to Jamie for making sloth into a verb ... an action verb, at that.
😀😀Love the part about modem, and hard drive formatting!
