my G0698
I think this is a great lathe for the money. Like Roger has pointed out there are "Nicer Lathes" out there. Our club recently purchased the Powermatic and it is a dandy. If I could have afforded one I probably would have one now.
I considered the Nova but it too was more costly and from what I had read on several forums it also had occasional problems. I also considered the Jet. I did have trouble deciding which lathe but in the end I felt the Grizzly would be the most bang for the least cash.
My lathe had been quite reliable. I have had it for almost a year. I did have one problem. The speed readout started being erratic. I contacted Grizzly and they sent out a new sensor assembly, complete with the readout. Replacement was fairly easy and I have not had a problem since.
As to not having a hand wheel I do think I would like that and sometime soon I plan to build one.
All in all I am happy with my choice and yes I can feel good about recommending it to others.
