This 10"w x 5.5"h hollow vessel is from the very special camphor trees removed from 1st in Benicia, CA. The collar is of Ipe, with the designed burned in.
(by the way, i was really hungry turninig this piece and it shows...it's shape is exactly like a loaf of french bread)
8"D x 5"H. This piece has great spider shaped cracks at the pith. It was given as a 50th wedding anniversary gift to a relative from who's property I got the wood. The cracks are filled with ebony sanding dust and CA.
More Curly Carob pieces. The shallow bowl is 12" in diameter. The larger piece on the left is 10" inches tall. I have never seen another carob tree with this figure. This wood has been very popular in the galleries.
This piece is 6.5 in. tall and 9.5 in. in diameter. I texured the collar after watching several demonstrators texturing at the Utah Woodturning Symposium.
