This was the last of my old apple trees which was uprooted in a storm last spring. This was some of the only sound wood left in the tree. Made from a small crotch section. The size is 11" x 13.5" x 5" tall. The finish is my oil mix and buffed with tripoli and carnauba wax.

This is a beautiful and unusually colored piece of black locust with sapwood. The yellow sapwood is not stained! The lid and foot are made of cherry that was tinted for more contrast.

Vessel is about 9 inches tall by 6 inches wide.

Think I'll trick anybody? I've read the posts about the toothpick holder article in Wood Magazine. Unfortunately when I went to the bookstore I couldn't find the magazine, so I had to wing it. It was fun to figure it out on my own...I like a challenge. The plug/stem/lid is all one piece.

Or is it? Turned from Sapele (from Wizzy). The "lid" is walnut, and the finial & "collar" are Maple. Measures 5"x2.75". Finish is 3 parts each DNA, BLO, & Shellac (recipe from E. Bud).
