This is my first ever attempt at segmenting. There are 48 segments with a walnut base. The process is really enjoyable and more segmenting will be coming!

Maple Burl wall hanging with water and alcohol-based dyes and many coats of spray lacquer. The center is the handiwork of termites, some of Mother Nature's own artists... I embellished the outer rim with a torch to contrast against the dye and to complement the natural color in the center.

A nesting pair of Northern Cardinals and their nest in a cherry tree. Spalted sugar maple. 5.5 inches high x 3 inches diameter Pyrographic detail with piercing. Outside finish: water-based polyurethane Inside finish: Jacquard duo blue green pigment in water-based polyurethane.

My first segmented piece… I used maple with walnut veneer to give a “grout” line look. Top and bottom rings are from walnut to contrast and tie together. Lid is curly maple with walnut knob, reflecting the box shape.

I am relatively new to woodturning and I could use some pointers on a couple of items. I'm starting a new project (not to resale) for a couple of clients/friends and I'll need to glue up the blanks, 4'' x 4'' x 4'' per cup. Should I be worried about any grain direction issues while gluing up...

So it’s all done. I will be doing a little extra work on the finish i kinda rushed it a bit. I did use CA for the finish in this one. That’s not my go to finish but it works if I had done my standard finish it would have taken an extra week or 2 to finish it up. This is a precursor for another...
