    This is my first ever attempt at segmenting. There are 48 segments with a walnut base. The process is really enjoyable and more segmenting will be coming!

    Maple Burl wall hanging with water and alcohol-based dyes and many coats of spray lacquer. The center is the handiwork of termites, some of Mother Nature's own artists... I embellished the outer rim with a torch to contrast against the dye and to complement the natural color in the center.

    My first segmented piece… I used maple with walnut veneer to give a “grout” line look. Top and bottom rings are from walnut to contrast and tie together. Lid is curly maple with walnut knob, reflecting the box shape.
