Butternut Bowl 8.5 inch by 4 inch tall

Not sure if this is "crotch" or not. It's my last piece of this wood. It was not identified when I got it. My best guess is Butternut??? Finished with Tried and True Danish Oil and Beall Buffing.

This is a small bowl measuring 6” in diameter and 3 1/2” tall. It is made from purpleheart wood. The rim is textured and dye has been added to the texture to create a contrast.

    Curly maple inlayed footed bowl

This beautiful piece of curly maple has a inlayed band around the lip of the bowl. I think the feet add to the "pot of gold" look

    Dovetail or tenon for bowls?

I'm sure this had been discussed but just got through finishing a small bowl that had a tenon during the process. What determines a tenon or dovetail for turning a bowl? Thanks.
