Not sure if this is "crotch" or not. It's my last piece of this wood. It was not identified when I got it. My best guess is Butternut??? Finished with Tried and True Danish Oil and Beall Buffing.
Spalted Maple. I'm attempting to focus on simple. Shape and finish. Been watching some youtube videos on Japanese and British ceramics. Only finish is Beal Buffing system. Did have some problems with tear out.
From a crotch of an oak (probably scrub oak) that was burn damaged in the 2017 tubbs fire - then allow to try to grow for 4 years before finally being felled in 2021 as it was never going to recover- parts of this were alive while parts were rotting and other parts are scorched (8" x 3-1/4"...
12 inch wide butternut (I'm pretty sure it's butternut, but I could be wrong) with embellishment with dye and gilding wax. Finished in Danish oil and carnauba wax.
Another great turning project from Dick Sing. This turned base really dresses up this calculator which in turn can dress up any desk. These make great gifts for everyone and you can really get creative with your designs!

This is a small bowl measuring 6” in diameter and 3 1/2” tall. It is made from purpleheart wood. The rim is textured and dye has been added to the texture to create a contrast.
I'm sure this had been discussed but just got through finishing a small bowl that had a tenon during the process. What determines a tenon or dovetail for turning a bowl? Thanks.
