This is an ash bowl which measures about 10 1/2 inches in diameter. The outside has been fluted and lightly bleached and sandblasted while the inside has been left pristine.
I had to show this one. This was one of the nicest pieces of spalted yellow birch I have come across so far. It is a yellow birch bowl I just finished, it is 16.5x5. The rim is undercut to a 3/8 wall thickness. The finish is Russ blend. I chose a foot to elevate to show the grain and figure a...

Comments as with all my turnings always welcome
This piece was created from a highly spalted piece of maple. It measures 14" w by 3" h and was made for use as a fruit bowl. It is slightly deeper than a platter but shallower than a bowl of this size. Mahoney's Walnut Oil finish was used as this piece is intended for food use...
This Russian Olive bowl was fun to turn. The rim has been lightly trimmed using the Sorby texturing tool. I think the small trim gives a little added dressing up to the bowl. The finish is Mahoney Walnut Oil. This bowl measures 9" w by 2 1/2" h and is buffed and waxed with...
Lightly spalted hackberry bowl with texturing trim on bowl rim. Finish is Danish Oil with wax polish. Size is 7 1/2" w by 2 1/2" h. Sorby texturing tool used for trim work.
Norfolk Island Pine - 11" diameter, 3" height, celtic design burned and then colored, 1/16" wall thickness, 1/8" bottom to prevent burn through of design. 3 carved feet. Boiled Linseed Oil and wipe on poly.
Collaborative piece for Bill and Denise Tilson by Bill and Diane. The wood is Bradford Pear harvested 1-1/2 years ago, rough turned cored, sealed, bagged and dried. They were finish turned last month and sanded through 400 grit with sealer between coats. The Blackwood piece was turned and...
Description: I just finished this Yellow Birch bowl. I have always used a foot or a recess in the past but this one seemed to balance well on it's own. It had a lot of chatoyance but I had a hard time capturing it in the photo. It has a round bottom and is 9x4.5. The finish is several coats of...
This is a spalted maple bowl I turned for my cousin's wedding gift approximately 12"x5".
This was also my first use of the woodburning kit I got at the AAW Symposium.
This is decorative beaded ash bowl which measures about 9 3/4 by 3 1/4. It has been beaded, and dyed and the outside treated with black patinating wax while the inside was painted flat black.
