  2. WingIII

    WingIII

12-1/2"x11"x6" Black Acacia This is my latest iteration on this wing concept. I introduced more curvature to the bowl form and selected a log containing several knots. I like the flared rim but it created an area that was very difficult to finish between it and the wing. I was...

  5. Compote

  6. Black Acacia Natural Edge

    Black Acacia Natural Edge

This is one of the largest natural edge bowls i've successfully completed - 15"lx10"wx5"h. Since Acacia is in the same family as Koa, the wood has a very similar glow.
  7. Black Walnut Platter

    Black Walnut Platter

This is made from a large plank of sapwood, which I ebonized using vinegar and steel wool. I never could have afforded the heartwood. All of it was turned into gunstocks, and the sawmill operator earned a years pay out of the one log.
  8. 16x3 Black Ash bowl

    16x3 Black Ash bowl

This is a wide shallow bowl of Black Ash. The bowl is turned thin with a wide, slopeing in rim.
