This is another of my pod forms.

This wood was so punky and nasty, I soaked it in thinned down poly just to be able to turn it.

Bottom is burned with my Frankenburner in a semi Maori Koru shape. Kind of appropriate as it is their symbol for creation and has its basis in the shape of an unfurling fern frond.

Wood is nasty way too spalted Hackberry. Finished in (soaked in) poly - cut back with a mop sanding head on the lathe and buffed / waxed.

5.5 h x 5.5 w

Comments, critiques welcome.
Punky or not, that is a spectacular piece of wood. Good job--I really like the burning/carving.
