2118 maple burl.

Completed June 20, 2023, and sold for $350 on September 10, 2023. Original block registered 12% MC, and after roughing, it lost 0.7 oz after 6 months seasoning time. 12 1/2" x 3", 2 lb 0.3 oz, sanded to 600gt, Danish oil natural, Beall 3-step buffed. Has undercut rim. As is the usual for burls, this one has many voids and bark inclusions.

Thanks, Odie. I can't imagine a tool rest that will work with a spear point tool that produces grooves that close together. Got a photo? .... if you are so inclined. ;)

Sorry, Tom......but someday I might want to use my idea(s) for profit, so I hope you'll understand why I decline to show photos of my "magic" tool rest. For the time being, though.....I'm just interested in producing turnings. Actually, it's more than an interest.....it's my personal quest and passion....because there are some things in this life that are more important than making money.....and, THAT I'm sure most everyone on this forum can relate to! :)

Tom--You can also use the tear drop tool from D-Way. It will produce the same results...
Hi, Gabriel. The question was not about the tool (btw- I have one of those - can't remember the last time I used it), but about the method for spacing the grooves ..... i.e., Odie's "magic" tool rest.
