My daughter is new to turning and I want to buy for her a good turning smock. My dilemma is not embarrassing her with chest sizes or purchasing a smock that is too small. For you women turners out there, what smocks do you use and find comfortable and how do you determine the appropriate size? I have visited the Craft Supply USA website and they have good looking smocks and they suggest one size larger than your normal size, but they don't differentiate between men and women. I am also open to your suggestions on different brands and why you prefer these. Thanks in advance.

Not a women here :) but I really like the Calavera leather smocks at https://calaveratoolworks.com/ They make smocks for turning. I didn't see women's smocks but I suspect you could contact them and ask. They're a very hands-on and responsive company. Ashley Harwood uses their smocks. I don't know if they made one to fit her or not.

Thanks Charles, I will check them out.

I would suggest calling Craft Supplies USA and chat with their technicians. I am sure others will chime in here...

no one has mentioned the AAW branded turning smocks? (on member website, and members get a discount) .. I love mine, and I wear a medium (which is only a little larger than my 4' 10" mom used to wear - I can wear her old coats) - I think they'd be reasonably useful for teens, women, smaller sized folks..

Whatever you decide on; get one with a Velcro collar. I got one from England and it was too small. The thing was made very well.
