I have a nice piece of brown mallee burl, coated in equally lovely wax. Any suggestions as to how to best remove the wax without changing the natural edge? Thanks, Gary

wax removal help

I think you have two options: you could melt it out with a heat gun; or you could melt it chemically with a solvent. I'd likely go with the solvent, but you'd need to submerge the entire edge and let it "soak" to ensure adequate working time and coverage. Use mineral spirits or VMP naptha. (It may take 24-48 hours to dissolve completely.

You can brush the mineral spirits on and get rid of much or it. I've only done that once and it seemed to work well. you do need to brush a lot on and let it sit. Then periodically reapply and brush to remove more.
