Versaflo noise

I've been using a Versaflo system for several years, but I never thought of it as noisy. It's not unusual for me to forget that I'm even wearing it.
Has yours always been noisy or is it something that it's started recently?

Its always been this noisy. Put my iphone noise app up by my ear and its like 70db.

Is it the sound of the moving air in the helmet or a mechanical noise from the blower unit? If the latter there could be an issue with the unit as they are pretty quiet usually. If the former, check if any of the straps or other helmet parts are interrupting the airflow or vibrating in the breeze.
mine has 2 speeds...high speed is noisy, but low speed is great. push button control is very finicky. Sounds like you may be on high speed?
Yes it may be speed. I find low speed plenty with mine, and I can barely tell its running (my hearing is very good).
My Versaflo rig is the less insanely expensive version that only runs at high speed, but my hearing isn't that good anymore, so I guess I've just gotten used to it. A lot of times I also have music playing, so that may mask some of the noise too. If the wood seems dicey though, I turn off extraneous noise makers and listen for any warning noises.
If you need earplugs look at the Loop earplugs. They were initially developed as concert earplugs allowing concert goers to enjoy the music without damaging their ears. They reduce noise levels while still allowing you to hear, especially people talking. I use them with my power tools and they work well.
Also, as I age and my hearing gets worse I find these are great to wear in a crowded place, like a noisy restaurant, they allow me to hear the conversation around me but filters out the other noises.

Well I added a muffler designed for cpap machines. It helped a little. Obviously I run it on low. Biggest difference was adding the headphones that are designed to work with it. Unfortunately they are only 26 db mufflers rather then the 31db ones I usually use. They just work so much better then the 3m ones designed for helmets because they clamp more tightly.
