My selection for TOW is “Place Your Burdens Here” by @David Bartell.
This is the second burden Basket I have seen. The first was posted by David a short while ago.
I was attracterd to this piece by the pleasing shape and the story kept me looking.
The surface is kept simple with wide rings of wood separating the basket elements.
Leather, turquoise, and metal add detail. One subtle detail is the cord wrapped about the leather hanger.
Another achievement is a rather large stand the doesn’t take our focus away from the basket.
Hope we see a few more of these lovely burden baskets.
David explains the inspiration: “The Apache culture created a ceremonial style of burden basket that was meant to hang outside of a dwelling. Guests were encouraged to "place" their burdens in the basket before entering. “
The wood is mesquite and the basket dimensions are 8h x 7w
