I emailed Teknatool to ask why they don't offer the DVR upgrade for the Nova II 1624 outside of the US and was told that they are discontinuing the Nova II 1624.
Could see prices drop on remaining stock when the announcement is made.

quick check online revealed woodcraft, rockler, even amazon have none in stock so looks like they are fast dissappearing
KMS Tools is a tool store chain here which has 23 of them in stock across Canada. Currently discounted $100 but I'm going to keep an eye on them.

Too bad. I have the 1624+DVR and it has worked well for me (though I'm thinking of stepping up to a bigger lathe). But if you can't get the DVR option, I'm less enthusiastic, especially if you've ever turned on a variable speed lathe. I originally bought the base 1624, but within 6 months I was "done" with belt changing for speed control and had bought the DVR. After that, very happy. As an alternative you might look for a used Saturn (or leftover stock?). It will cost more, but a heavier lathe with the same features.

I have bought several Nova accessories from KMS in the past. they frequently drop prices 50% to move out old discontinued stuff. I picked up an outrigger for my DVR-XP for about $200 far less than the $375 they were here in the states and that included shipping. Also got a bed extension for half what they normally run

If they do a deep discount on the Saturn DVR I might have to dip into my slush fund!
