This is the announcement of the 10th contest - focusing on off center platters. If you missed the last contests, do a search for "contest" in the forum search.
Rules for this contest:
- Deadline is July 8, 2007 midnight CST. II know I skrewed up and posted July 1) (The contest was announced 5/31/2007 so this gives ~4 weeks including to complete the submission).
- Each participant will create an off center platter...in line with the feature story by Keith Gotschall in the Summer 2007 AAW Journal issue.
- Any and all platter submissions will be considered but they must have some off center turning (like us!) and don't have to be for functional use.
- I really don't care if the entire piece is done on the lathe, I am not a purist, but the unnamed (and unasked) judge may. We just don't know
- The submitted piece must be created after 5/19/07 (corresponding to the AAW Journal Summer 2007 issue)
- One submission per person. You can submit multiple pics but only 2 pictures maximum can be submitted for judging. (As a tip, the photo should be pretty good and sharp, with no distracting backgrounds and in focus for goodness sakes)
- The platter may only be submitted by the turner themselves.
- You cannot change your submission after you submit
- Size restrictions: must be under 8' in diameter- we don't care.
- Contest is open to all forum users, AAW members and non-members. But please at least have the decency to buy the journal
- Post your entry in the photo gallery and label it "AAW Forum contest entry" so people will recognize it.
- Also email Steve when you submit the entry, and he will track the entries -
email to steve@turningwood.com. He will respond with an acknowledgement, unless the spam filter rejects your email. If he doesn't send an acknowledgement, then send him a Private Message (PM) via the PM function in this forum. Also he will maintain a list of entries in the forum near the end of the contest.
