When I sharpen my spindle gouge I get a concave edge on the wing. How do I get rid of and eliminate it in the future? I use the One Way jig and the Geiger Gouge Sharpening System.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Thank you John, that was helpful also, I really like seeing the actual process. I just subscribed to your channel.
Thank you, I’ll check out your channel. Your name is familiar, I think from Mike Waldt’s Channel.I have a video up on platform sharpening, in part because I don't use the jigs. Main thing that causes that dip in the wing is spending too much time on that part of the gouge when you roll and swing it to the side. I am guessing that you are talking about a 'detail' type spindle gouge, so fairly shallow flute, and pretty much a section of a circle for flute shape rather than U, V, or parabolic flute shape. This is a far more common problem with the V flutes than with a U flute.... Try to keep roll and sweep rates the same through the motion. Every thing you do when sharpening is exactly what you do when turning....
