Came with, in that I paid for the oneway remote switch option when I got it.
I use both switches depending on which end of the lathe I'm working at. (Really helps in my thin shop.)

I'm in Windsor, California, between Santa Rosa and Healdsburg.

New Floor Idea

Something new has been added since my first posting on this thread 3 weeks ago. I needed to seal my floor, due to moisture coming up through, so I got a brainy idea of doing it with rubber matting. I laid down 3 gallons of waterproof glue and installed 1/2" rubber anti-fatigue mats over the whole floor area. It's the most comfortable floor I've ever stood on, crawled around on, or slept on. The down side is you can't drag stuff around on it, you have to pick it up and set it down. It's a good thing I have strong son-in-laws and grand kids to help move the 450 pound band saw and 400 pound lathes. The cost was about $75 for the matting and $45 for the glue - this was for a 125 sq. ft. area. An added bonus is when I drop a gouge it doesn't dull or nick the edge, stuff just sort of bounces.

it started off as my lathe and a workbench that i built and shot up from there. craigslist is a great way to furnish a beginner shop for anyone else out there lookin' to get off the ground for not a ton of money!

Here is what I just started turning on. After years of turning on Rockwell/Delta I decided to bite the bullet and go all the way. It is a great machine, and worth the money if one plans on turning the rest of their life.

Here is a photo of my lathe area. It is 30" from the tool board wall. Attached to the head stock end of the bed is a covered box for my vacuum chuck. At the other end of the bed is a "holster" for four tools that can be reached without turning around. Panels close the opening of each cast leg end. On outside of the head stock leg panel, I have attached an 18" pressure pad (a face plate screwed to plywood and carpet padding adhered to it). On the oposite inside leg panel are plastic sandwich bags containing 2" sanding strips, 2" and 3" sanding discs. Between the leg panels, I've mounted a sloping plywood panel to discahage chips to the floor. On a shelf between the legs are the vacuum drums, the support parts of the Jamison system, dust collector nozzle (which attaches to the bracket for the safety screen), and plywood panels to protect bed and head stock when finishing.

I say I have three hobbies. First is buying tools, second is arranging tools, and if time permits using tools. In the sixty years I've had my hobbies I've had many hours of pleasure.

I too would feel embarrassed to submit my shop. You should see my office(at work). But I always felt someone taking the time to organize/clean their office wasn't working hard enough and doing "real work" 😉 (where is there a symbol for "tongue in cheek" rather than wood dust in the eye??? 😀 Gretch

I really have enjoyed your alls pictures. I haven't got my shop setup yet but I'm working on it.

I got several ideas from your pictures. I felt a little embarrassed because I only have a 10x14 shed but now that I have seen how well some of you have utilized a small area I feel better.

I'll post some pictures when I get it done. The insulation is finished and I'm working on the wiring.

JWW...don't feel embarassed. I have a 10X10 shed that houses a large Nichols lathe and a bunch of other junk that i am still trying to fit in it. What I would give for a nice sturdy heated outbuilding with a thick concrete floor 🙁
