Thanks to this forum today I purchased a Hunter Tool and was able to turn part of a Spalted Dogwood log I picked up in the woods and untill now was unsuccessful at getting to stay together. Here is a pic I welcome any comments. And again thank you all for sharing great info.

How did you do the bottom on that one, Mark?
I've only done a couple of natural edge bowls myself, but sometime in the future, I may purchase some natural edge bowl blanks and give it a whirl!
Have you heard about the Grumbine chuck? When I get a round tuit (!), I plan on skipping the vacuum chuck and make up a Grumbine chuck. It's a mechanical way of chucking up a natural edge bowl for doing the bottom. If you run a search of this forum, you will find a discussion, and photos about the Grumbine chuck.......

I turned a large tenon about 3 " I had to make it large cause the wood is super soft and just parted it off and sanded it.I had to keep adding pressure on the tailstock cause the spur kept boring in and slipping. BTW nice shop.:cool2:
