Hello Fellow Turners!
My name is Luke and I have recently been bit by the turning bug. I got started woodworking about 5 years ago out of boredom and wanting to pick up a new hobby. Then last year about this time my mother bought my dad and I a Shop Fox 16" x 46" lathe and since that thing has hit the floor in the shop I haven't been able to stop using the dang thing!!! I consider myself a novice turner at this time who mainly focuses on bowls and small hollow forms. I enjoy spindle work to an extent, however my goal(s) is to make medium/large hollow forms and bowls that my kid's kids will have to inherit someday .
Just recently I did buy my own lathe so my new shop (aka my basement) is in the process of getting all the necessary tools/storage/sharpening station/etc moved in and replaced. Below is a couple pictures of where I'm at in my journey but hopefully in the next few months it'll be fully functional for my needs/wants. It ain't much yet, but its getting there!!!
WWW
And here are a few things I've turned in the last year that I'm pretty happy with. They all need some more work/practice to perfect, but hey! I've only been turning for about a year.
WWW
White oak bowl and a scrap piece of walnut that i turned into a twig pot.
Looking forward to chatting and learning a bunch from the members on the forum!
Cheers!
Luke
