Hi-My name is Mark Lohbeck and I am new to the forum. I have been woodworking for around 10 years but started wood turning in 2021 when I retired. My first attempts were pens and bottle stoppers after buying a 10" Turnmaster and using the carbide tools that came with the lathe. I realized I needed help after watching several you tube videos and in late 2021 joined the Ohio Valley Wood turners Guild. I have taken many skill building classes using traditional tools and also some on bowls, boxes, ornaments and peppermills. I sold my 10" Turnmaster and bought a PM 2014. I will never stop learning and each day I learn something new.

That's a nice looking turning shop you have there, Mark. Enjoy your new(ish) craft!

Welcome to the dark-side. I also was a "woodworker" which means I knew what I was going to do before I did it. As a woodturner, I put a chunk on the lathe and figure it out as I go. I may have a general idea, but the outcome is still a surprise.021.jpg

Welcome Mark! I think I have met you at the Learning Center, but if not, welcome and I hope you learn a lot from the members here!
