How to sharpen narrow parting tool

Tony Dentino said:
I recently acquired the Sorby narrow parting tool but have no idea how to sharpen.

Mine came with instructions in the sleeve, but basically the flat, rather than the notched face is touched up with a stone.

Sharpen it Only on the non-flutted surface. I don't use a grinder to sharpen mine; I use a 180 grit, diamond, flat, "stone." Make sure you maintain the proper angle and that the surface is flat, i.e., not heel down or tip down. It takes only about 4 passes unless you dropped it tip down.
