Hello, My name is Stuart Hutchins and I live in the U.k
I enjoy woodturning as a hobby(work permitted).
I've recently imported wood from craft-supplies U.S.A and I want more wood
from across the globe.
There are certain woods that I'm interested in purchasing but, am unable to
find anyone who is exporting them to the U.K
The woods are:-
Bloodwood
Redheart
Buckeye Burl
Laurel Burl
Madagascar Rosewood
Pistachio
Spalted Hackberry
Is there anybody who knows any companies that exports these woods to the U.K
Any info would be appreciated.

Stuart

The hackberry, pistachio and buckeye are US woods (maybe laurel also), but the others may be less expensive in the UK since they are South American or elsewhere. You should pick up a copy of woodturnig, the UK publication, and call aroiund to the advertisers in there to see what you can get.

I do know there is a BIG importer in Germany, but I can't recall the name.

What type of turnings do you do?
What sizes do you need?
How much do you need?

Just wondering since some of us may be able to help you...if it is just a little qty you need.

I usually buy 6 inch square by 3 inches bowl blanks and 2.5/3.0 inch sq. by
12 inches suare blanks.
I normally turn lamps, pens, bowls, clocks, decorations and want to try
segmented work.

Thankyou,
Stuart
