I'm selling my Nova Galaxi 16" swing, 44" (max between centers) DVR lathe. It's a been great lathe, and I'm really just looking to "cross-grade" to a Nova Nebula to gain a little essential space in my crowded shop. I'm a hobbyist user, not a production turner, so it's gotten light but consistent usage since I started turning a few years back.
Detailed info, including specs and manuals, can be found at Teknatool's website: https://www.teknatool.com/products/lathes/nova-galaxi-dvr-lathe/
Beyond headstock, tailstock, and tool slide/banjo, the lathe comes with its included standard accessories:
- 300mm/12" tool rest. I upgraded mine with the D-Way tool rest top bar; see photos.
- 150mm (6") faceplate
- Spur center
- Live center
- Knockout bar and holder
Only the lathe and its accessories listed above are included.
I'm happy to answer any questions, so ask away!
Asking $2200. The lathe is located in the Seattle area. At this time, I'm asking for pick-up only.
Notes:
I purchased this lathe as a refurb from Striatech, and it's been flawless in my usage. Early on, I found that using the locking set screws (strongly suggested when the electric brake is enabled) chewed up the spindle a bit at the back of the threads. See the photos for details, noting that these dings are cosmetic only and don't affect the use or function of chucks or other threaded spindle accessories at all. I mitigated this two ways: 1) I found the electric brake (and its warning messages) annoying, and so I keep it turned off. It's fine waiting a little for when the lathe spins down. 2) If/when I do need to lock a chuck down, I now use brass-headed set screws that won't damage the spindle.
I also added "bump dots" to the start and stop buttons, which *greatly* increase their ease of use in my experience.
