Anyone making pendant lights willing to chat?

Hoping to find some folks that make pendant lights that would be willing to chat with me about the hardware needed. I posted a while ago for ideas on where to purchase sockets and such but am feeling overwhelmed without being able to actually see everything in person to trouble shoot. Seems so simple yet so daunting. Thanks!

I have not turned any pendant lights. But, have made a number of stained glass lights and shades.
I think that you need a fixture that has air going through the top of the light. Need to get rid of the heat.
Go to - Grand Brass web site and see what they have available for light fixtures. I believe that there is a brass fixture that will hold the light socket....and will have openings for the heat exchange to happen.
I would also think that LED bulbs would be your friend here in that they produce less heat. I think heat would be your enemy with the wood.

I played with making some a while back. I made them with sockets, threaded tube and loops that thread on the tube. All purchased from Lowes in there lighting department. After making them I realized they were to much of a liability to give away or sell since the entire assembled piece was not technically not ul listed.

First photo is an example of what I would like to make (the photos is from Zillion Designs on Etsy). I reached out to the Etsy seller but they didn't respond.

A lot of my dad's rough turned bowls that I inherited are this shape but many are smaller at the bottom than the Etsy one below. Second photo is a small subset of my dad's pieces. Third photo is a piece of my dad's that is in the Smithsonian American Art Museum collection as an example. I have a lot of pieces that are very large that my dad would have turned for museums or personal collections. I don't think that it is reasonable to think that I would be at that level so trying to think of ways to be able to "repurpose" that flute shape.

I am most interested in how to extend the socket away from the "top" of the light (have it hang lower) as I am not sure I could get the socket to sit flush against the top (what would be the bottom of the bowl) with the depth of the flute shape. I found a potential company (https://www.creative-cables.us/) that sells sockets and cords that are all UL listed so there is that comfort. Assuming I would use LED bulbs and that would reduce heat issues.

Low voltage LED's would be a lower temperature option with a reduced liability for the product, if you install a 120V lamp socket there is very little control over what wattage of lamp someone will install in the pendant which could be a problem later on.

Its easy to extend the socket down if you use threaded tube. Make the tube the length you want then use a lock nut on the inside to pinch the shade in place. Then attach the socket on the end of the tube.

If you get tired of making them “vanilla” carving, piercing, resin filling are possible embellishments. Lovely forms.
