Couldn’t pass up this little chunk of box elder burl when I was at Craft Supplies last September. Finally got around to putting it on the lathe last week. Turned it to ~3/16” thickness and applied my go-to shellac finish.
I'm beginning to focus on finishing what I've started.
It seems that sanding sealers are often applied to pieces at the beginning of the finishing process.
Any suggestions on a particular brand? I will be following up the sanding sealer with sanding (of course) then a shine juice application...
This hollow form/vase is made from a single piece of old growth Spalted Curly Ambrosia Maple and segmented with Walnut veneer.
It is 6 3/8 inches tall by 4 1/4 inches in diameter.
The finish is shellac and wax.
