The sunrise was inspired by details in Malcolm Tibbetts book. Walnut and maple. 12" tall x 11" dia. The walnut came from an old house my in-laws demolished back in the 1950's. As salvaged wood, it is unique because it was probably harvested in the late 1800's or early 1900's...
This is a segmented box with 802 pieces made of osage orange, ebony, and ebonx(made as Malcolm Tibbetts descibes in his book). Its approximately 7" tall by 5.5" wide.
My attempt at my favorite Ray Allen form. I had this thing cut out for a couple of years and have been kicking around the box since then. I figured I should either put it together and finish it or throw the thing away-so I guess I did the right thing. anyway-around 16'' dia. cherry, walnut...
8-1/2" dia x 5" tall. Maple salvaged from my neighbors wood pile. Walnut feature ring was from some trim my in-laws salvaged from an old house they helped demolish in the 1950's.
Poplar and Birdseye Maple.
The body is segmented construction using poplar. The top and foot are birdseye maple.
Body is textured and painted with a flat black enamel.
The top and foot have a tung oil finish.

The turning was done by me on Cape Cod and the beads were done by Jeri Warhaftig from NJ.
The bowl is 11 1/2" in diameter and about 4 1/4" tall. The beads were hand made, then coated with a white enamel and sand-blasted.

This piece took over 6 months to make working a few hours a week. There are over 2000 pieces in the vase. It is made of African mahogany, ash, red heart, ebony, and maple. there is a scroll saw inlay in the bottom, of a buffalo skull.
