Used my Nova Ornamental Turner to create the ornament body and detail on the drop spindle. Just had an idea I was playing with last night while my student worked on her own turning. Really pleased overall. I believe the body is stabilized cottonwood and I know the cap and drop spindle are...
I am not sure if there is a more appropriate forum for this kind of post, if so, please feel free to move the thread. I have been woodturning since 2020, although for a couple of years here, until the very end of 2023 and then only the last 5-6 months of this year, did I really get back into it...

This pierced Egg ornament has walunt finials and measures 6" h x 1 3/4" w.
Doing the egg piercing was the real challenge after trying to straighten up the blow holes in the ends from removing the egg inside. I have also tried dying some of these. You must not have used any...
This Sycamore Ornament has Walnut finials. It won 1st place in our local, South Kansas Woodturners, club contest for both the lightest and the best looking. It measures about 2 1/2" w x 5" h and has a wall thickness ranging from .030 to .050. The design is comprised of the word, NOEL...
Maple Globe/Walnut Finials, Pierced with a Random Design, 2 x 6 h.
I like to keep the piercing toward the center 2/3 of my ornament globes. I think the solid portion of the globe on the top and bottom make a nice frame for the random piercing.
I like feedback so all comments and...
Egg Shaped Spalted Hackberry with Maple Finial and pierced Fleur De Lei pattern. 2" w x 6" h. The main part of this ornament was turned and hollowed like a box and then glued together. The glue line can be seen if you really look, but the spalting and piercing pattern cover it pretty...
