OK, so I've throw a natural-edge maple bowl back on the lathe for second turning. The bark had a few tiny gaps where it joined the tree, so I dropped some thin CA in, worked great while I was refining the outside. The strong temptation is to soak all of the bark in CA. :D Perhaps not? How do...
I've been cutting up the larger pieces of the fallen maple tree, and am hoping that the piece in the picture below might stay un-checked/un-split long enough for me to make a bowl out of it. The tree had split in half longitudinally. I would like to try a natural edge bowl (in a few weeks?)...
Winged natural-edged bowl turned from green mesquite and finished with lacquer. Size is approximately 15 inches from tip to tip. Donated to local Tarrant Area Food Bank for upcoming Empty Bowls Project.
