This is the first box I have turned from this material. The box is 2 3/4" by 4 3/4". A wonderful wood to turn.

This valley oak box is a gift - it's branded with a coil tip, silver-leafed. the colors are generated by a patinizing chemical.

Maple box approximately 2 x 4 1/2 First attempt at a lidded box. Makes a satisfying "pop" when you open it. Just a tad on the tight side.

Made from a Maple salvaged from tree that came down when I built a shed. I promised myself I'd make something out of it. It's approximately 2 dia x 4 1/2 tall. Sorry about the lousy photo. I just needed to get the hang of posting these. Better ones to follow.

Carved finial, Pyrographically Branded, Patinated Silver-Leaf While visiting the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, I was drawn to some 16th century ceramic boxes. This prototype box is inspired from those works.

These tall boxes (tallest 8.5"hx3"w) were turned and then pyrographically branded. Silver-leaf was applied and then patinated.

This is a hollow form of box elder (Manitoba Maple). It measures 8 1/4 inches in diameter by 6 1/4 inches tall. Finished with Antique Oil.

The segments were sliced from one chunk, trying for continuous grain but minus the saw kerfs. 7 1/4" long, 2 1/4" largest diameter--wipe-on poly finish and buffed.
