Walnut Platter

Walnut Platter

This is an 18" English Walnut platter. It was a pretty ugly big slab with a lot of voids when I got it. I originally had plans to do some pyrograghy or carving on it until the grain reviled itself and I chickened out. Couldn't do it. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome, Don L.
Really great piece; the green rim really sets it off.

It looks like you had to dye the rim after it was turned; did you mask off the rest of the turning or protect it with sanding sealer . . . or something else?

Oops! I just deleted that post. Wrong bowl. Sorry. This bowl was finished and sanded, then the green dye was wiped on. Full strength, one coat. The border edges were touched up and that's about it.
Thanks for asking, Don L.
