walnut form

turned/carved form 6" high by 6" wide
The subtlety of this form almost doesn't do justice to the work involved. Nice job George!

Hi George.
Walnut is a beutifull wood and i like this a lot i just cant work out how you have done it.
Please enlighten me.

Regards george

thanks Don and George
It was rouged out at about 5/8" thick and set to dry for a few months, then i mark out the segments in pencil and using a mixture of hand and power carve the piece- the top of the bead and centre of each segment is still the turned surface- only about 3/4" each side of the bead has been carved to give the segment effect- i havent done many of these so i'm not that fast yet - this piece took me about 8 hours to do. pm me if you need anything George and we can swap email's.

Very nice George. Unique - I haven't seen this type of carving. The bead is usually a groove. Interesting concept.
