Cross-grain Maple box with a hand-chased 8tpi thread. Approx 75mm (3”) diameter. Finished with Hardwax oil and lightly buffed.

Vintage chasers come up on eBay quite often (I’m in the UK) in all sorts of tpi. I’d bought the set of 8tpi years ago when I had a lathe with an 1”x8 spindle nose with the intention of making chucks but never actually needed to! I’ve got a few sets now of various tpi (modern sets are usually very fine tpi) so will try out the cross-grain method with the 10tpi set I have just acquired.
