The Union - Pecan, Maple, Birch, Sugarberry, galvanized steel - 8.75"h

I posted this last week, but promptly deleted it. @Tom Gall rightfully and politely called me out for some sloppy glue/paint work. I went back to the bench, got my smallest chisel and paintbrush, and cleaned up the piece considerably. It's nice to put pieces in the public eye for review--I didn't think the sloppiness was that bad, but after someone mentioned it, that was all I could see. Thanks Tom!

Anyway, this egg is hollowed to a bit less than 1/4", the inside ebonized via India ink, and the top and bottom are adjoined via bent maple veneer and birch button plugs.
Michael, I thought I was losing it !!! ... didn't know you could delete a photo after the fact. Guess that's why I'm a woodturner and not a computer guy.

I'm glad you took my minor nitpick in the spirit it was given. I'm impressed that you made the effort to fix it. Ever since I started turning I always try to do my best work and improve upon previous pieces ... even if that doesn't always happen! You are doing some very interesting work - well done, sir!

I had to provide a reason for deleting it. I put something like “sloppy work, should not have posted”. Hahaha.

I’m glad you said something, minor as it was. It forced me to find a fix, and gave me something to look out for in the future. Much appreciated! And many thanks for the kind words!

That’s interesting, I didn’t know that you had to give a reason. No human or moderator sees that information. So, maybe the software gets a chuckle out of reading the reasons that are given. I don’t recall that I have to give a reason for deleting an image.

It’s rare/ never that I fix something once my brain says it’s done! I usually spend a lifetime noticing the flaw when walking by the piece! Congratulations on doing the fix! The great thing about this site is the additional trained eye on your work; it’s enlightening and expands your game if your interest leans in that direction! Expert opinions are worth hearing, especially Tom Gall’s!!

Absolutely is a great thing! I’m always looking to expand my game, so the feedback is very welcome. Plus, it’s just cool for a peon like me to be able to interact with so many major players!
