16" x 18" Polar and Mahogany
The bowl was made from an old salad bowl my sister found for me at a thrift store. It was a little out of round but very stable so I rechucked it and turned it round again. The next step was what to do with it. It screamed for a lid. It was after i made the lid that I realized something had to be added. Thats when I saw the grooves come into play. I had just seen some of a friends work involving piercing. Voila. I had just did some gold painting on a piece and it seemed appropriate. The inside of the bowl and lid are painted gold. The photigrphy is not the best so you can't see it, but, looking through the piercings you see a light inside like there is a light source inside...
