Susan's Valentine Garden

Susan's Valentine Garden

A "garden" of Valentine "flowers" for my wife. They are not attached to the base so she can rearrange and play with them.

Inside-out, ring turned heart shape. Cherry. Black paint on interior, red dye (Chestnut Spirit Stain) on outside.

When I make ring-turned shapes (trees or angels), they usually get cut into a lot of slices to make ornaments. These I cut into "lengths" and angled the cuts so they'd stand up.

I turn the rings using the technique described by Roger Zimmermann in the October 2013 issue of American Woodturrner.
