Segmented Urn

Segmented Urn

7-1/2” tall, 4-1/2” diameter.

This one is comprised of 165 pieces of wood … Cherry, Ebony, Maple, Redheart, and Yellowheart.

Threads are cut in resin-stabilized maple that is inserted into the body and lid.
Nice piece I especially like the same wood bands rather then a southwest type design
Just a note about threading in layered segments it is not necessary to use inserts or any stabilizing agent since the thread is cut in line with the grain. I assume that the mail thread is is on the cherry and the female thread is in the red heart both of which would hold a thread as well or better then the maple insert. I have threaded many urns without problems in segmented pieces such as this one.

Thanks for the feedback! The threaded maple inserts are actually in the Redheart, and were stabilized in Cactus Juice.
