Segmented Maple and Walnut Box

Segmented Maple and Walnut Box

My first segmented piece… I used maple with walnut veneer to give a “grout” line look. Top and bottom rings are from walnut to contrast and tie together. Lid is curly maple with walnut knob, reflecting the box shape.
Exquisite. Beautiful design and workmanship. An inspiration to us beginners learning the process. Thank you for sharing.

A nicely done first attempt Jimmy! Lesson one; accentuating your joints makes alignment ultra important…..actually, the challenge of every segmented piece!! It gets easier from here if you pay attention to it!! Segmenting rocks!!
