Northern Red Oak Lamp

Lamp in red oak with azurite infill. The 2 pieces used were made from the same small tree and rough turned green in January 2018.The vertical column was turned on the pith and bored all the way through with a larger hole in the bottom to relieve the stress. The base has a large relief in the under side to relieve stress. The end grain areas were coated with Ankor Seal and left until October 2018 for the finish turn. The cracks were filled with crushed azurite and thin CA and the piece was finished with spray Lacquer.
