Nesting Chestnut Boxes

Nesting Chestnut Boxes

First, I am not sure that the wood is Chestnut. A relative had two good-sized pieces, which I have been using for family gifts. These, the smaller fits inside the larger, are for one of our daughters who is graduating from college next week. The 3-sided one is about 5" x 4 x 4 while the 4-sided one is about 3 x 2 1/4 x 2 5/8. I have one coat of a home brew of wipe-on poly, Danish oil and mineral spirits. They need a couple more coats and a buffing, but I will be rushing to get ready for our trip in the next couple of days so took the photos today.
The upper insert shows more of their shape while the lower insert shows that the lids fit correctly only in one position.
I had fun making these, and will make some more to sell, only from a different wood.
Comments welcome.
Congratulations on the graduating daughter and on the great first photo!
Nice, VERY Nice.
