Natural Edge Bowl - 524

Natural Edge Bowl - 524

This wood is Red Mallee. The size is 16" dia x 4.5" tall. This piece is finished with Mohawk lacquer sealer and lacquer, rubbed out with 0000 steel wool and hand waxed with Briwax to a very smooth satin finish.
Thank you chitswood. I love all burl wood. The challenge is what to do with it.

Clemens, the wood is from Austrailia. Many other burl species are available and most are extremely beautiful. I put a lot of time in my finishes. But it is sure worth it. Thank you.

Ruth, thank you for fine compliment. I have a passion for both NE bowls and hollow forms. I have to do both.

Ed, it is a beauty. The red is so intense I have to ask; will it last? I love the form. I cannot imagine that it does not attract the eye of all who glimpse it.

Hi Mike, It will change to a rich brown after time. The grain and character of the wood won't change. Still beautiful but different.
