Made from wood shavings

Made by my wife from wood shavings from Forster bit when drilling out center of hollow form
Larry:
Tell your wife the ornament is exquisite! I'm curious how this was done? Are the shavings just glued together? Glued to a center post? I likely don't have patience or steady enough hands to handle delicate materials like this. The piece is very well done though.
Cheers.
