John's Cherry Tree

John's Cherry Tree

My new neighbor recently brought me a slice of wood from a Cherry tree that went down at his old house. The wood had a lot of cracks, but I told John I would see what I could 'extract' from the log. This 6-inch diameter cherry bowl is the result. I featured the sapwood on the upper section for contrast. There are still flaws, but sometimes it is better to have the memories of the old tree, flaws and all. Finish is Watco oil, buffed on the Beall system.
